Great Journey 🇳🇴 Day 557/2
We cross the Arctic Circle towards the north. Once again. By now we are professionals at this.
This time a small island, skerry as they say here, glides past us with the Arctic Circle thingy.
And it doesn't take long and a troll comes shooting towards us on deck 9. He dances, screams, shrieks, rages and starts baptising the travellers. Polar baptism seems to be a typical troll thing. (I still remember my childhood, Neptune always came with disgusting gloop and used to baptise us too. I just can't remember why and what for).
The troll, which also has a name that we have of course forgotten, baptises with crystal-clear ice in typical Arctic fashion. He dumps lots of ice and ladles of ice-cold water down the neck of the travellers' clothes. And because that's not enough, the first mate and the captain also join in. All the baptised have a blast, but not all the baptised.
But if you're crossing the Arctic Circle for the first time, you'll have to endure it.
Good thing we celebrated our "first time" in Jokkmokk with hot chocolate in the cup instead of ice cream in the shirt.
