Great Journey 🏍 Day 294
Everyone talks about Bodrum. But we now know that it's one of those "A" places. We should rather go to the B-places, which are not recommended by so many. (Thanks for the clarification, @essbare_natur_martina_merz).

Gümüşlük is such a B-place. We just whiz past Bodrum, but see that the Bodrum peninsula is really beautiful. Great bays, fantastic beaches, turquoise blue water, the area is beautifully mountainous. But there are also huge 5-star hotel complexes and lots of upper-class advertising, from luxury watches to luxury cars to surgical makeovers of all body parts.

I briefly consider skipping the sport I had planned for the next few weeks and have the whole thing optimised under the knife. However, Gerd tells me that the heat in the helmet is preventing me from thinking clearly. Was that a "no"?

We arrive in Gümüşlük, find a cute campsite (yes, you read that right, we're camping!) and just stay for a few days. The cafés are so close to the sea that we can almost dangle our legs in the water.

The atmosphere here is beautiful. Easy-going. Hardly any tourists (okay, us!), a few families and the best thing about our campsite: a 10-week-old cat. She loves to be played with. And then falls asleep on my lap, tired of dogs or cats.

This is the kind of place that makes you feel like you're on holiday. Beach, sun, freshly squeezed orange juice. And sometimes there's a kind of coconut sunscreen scent wafting over, do you know it from the old days?

So, I have to go, Miezi needs me! (Or the other way round)
