Great Journey 🇨🇭 Day 422
Hiking Switzerland takes a break.
The cows are already in the valley. On the mountains, the new snow is already lying in many places. And the trees are drawing their magnesium and other valuable substances back into the tree as a winter reserve. What remains is a colourful foliage.
The mountain railways close for at least 4 weeks, followed by the so-called revision. (I know this from my sewing machine, unfortunately there were always screws left over after revisions I did myself. Hm...) The mountain restaurants are converted to winter operation and above all: the employees take their well-deserved holidays.
We are drawn to the "summer" mountains for the last time. One last time to the Gondeli. This time we go to Lake Oeschinen because we just couldn't get out of bed and so we don't leave until midday.
A hiking friend who will not be named here likes to call this area AHV-Wandern, which means pensioner's path. And that's exactly what we feel like doing today. A little bit of walking, pretty looking mountains framing the mountain lake and on top coffee and cake on the sun terrace of our favourite place: the Berghotel Oeschinensee.
Okay, we weren't the only ones with this idea. Half of the Swiss population is probably thinking the same thing: the weather is nice, today is the last day for mountain trips, let's go to Lake Öschinen.
So we walk along the lake with a lot of people. We also happily observe a few guests from faraway countries. Slowly, slowly there are travellers again. We hear English, again and again "Asian" (I have to write it like that, because of course we have no idea which of the many languages we hear) and even from far away Germany there are many visitors here. Beautiful!
We enjoy the beautiful, sunny day and daydream all we want. Our topics at the moment? Solar panels, inverters and winter insulation. Mixer or whisk? Gas tank, winter tyres and where Christmas.
Over our new theme we even accept that the Nussgipfeli are already sold out, but we were also late today.
