Great Journey 🏴 Day 657

Some days are quiet on our journey. We stand in beautiful places, the first scent of coffee wafts through Felix and I look out the window, listen to audio books, knit or watch the raindrops slide down my desk.

And then gratitude spreads through me. Gratitude is something like our energy donor and - I suspect it a little - perhaps even our thought base.

We are grateful for each other. Because, quite honestly, without each other, this trip would probably never have happened.

I am grateful for this introverted man who shares so many (not all, mind you!) of my great and different ideas, from museum visits, wool shops to this lifestyle.

We are grateful for what we "somehow" got, from the many adults who accompanied us in our childhood years and never killed our curiosity and gave us, whether they wanted it or not, those explorer genes.

We are thankful for our children, who walk such great paths. Who share wonderful things and "poop" with us, who ask for advice and help, and in the process teach us so much more than our teachers ever could.

And as I write this, it goes "pling" on my mobile phone (yes, we are also grateful for the internet and good smartphones) a book recommendation from Barbara reaches me. "The Book of Joy" by the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu. I immediately download the audio book and learn that joy is actually quite simple: a kind perspective on things and gratitude are the keys. Now if that doesn't go together.

And we are grateful that we take the time for such reflection from time to time. Yes, we are even grateful for being able to "take time"!

So, now I'm going to make myself a second coffee, it might take longer here....

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter
