Great journey - Ireland - Day 743

Great journey - Ireland - Day 743

The ferry leaves early in the morning. We stand outside, look back and somehow don't even want to think about leaving Ireland now.

When will we visit this island again? When will we be so free again, free in our time, free in our places to stay? Will we find such peace again? Will we feel this groundedness again someday?

Ireland had the best summer you could have in 2022. Little rain, lots of sun, temperatures around 20 to 24 degrees and a desolation that made us happy.

All of Europe groaned. The heat. The tourists. The forest fires. The regulations. Ireland in the summer of 2022 seemed completely removed, completely calm. Somehow as if from another time.

The time here also gave us some good ideas. We say goodbye to social media. We think about the way we travel. We are restarting our podcast. We are practising "slow travel" par excellence. We are living minimalism and paradoxically feel maximally happy.

In a book I read from time to time, I find a quote from Seneca. He writes: "Life is long enough if it is only pleasantly applied."

Thank you Ireland. Thank you, thank you and thank you again. Or as they say here: go raibh maith agat míle. (Unfortunately, it didn't work out at all for us with the Irish language ...)

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.
