Iran - Summer holiday on the Persian Gulf

The country is beautiful. The people are incredibly friendly. And yet: we feel like we're overstuffed with impressions. We just want to chill out, as they say.

In other words: Iran is an intense country that demands a lot from us. These endless stretches, kilometre after kilometre, no greenery to soothe our souls. Every conversation, no matter how friendly, requires maximum concentration - in terms of language and content.

Refuelling, shopping, getting water, finding a parking space - everything is different to what we were used to. We don't want to say it's bad, no, by no means. Intense probably sums it up best. We enjoy every moment and yet we need a little break.

Over the next few days, we find this - partly - in a hostel right on the beach. We are allowed to park and sleep in front of the door, but live in the hostel. We enjoy breakfast and dinner, take countless tea breaks, just sit and stare at the sea or at my knitting needles. In the evening, we pull ourselves together to walk 10 metres - or is it 20? - around the corner to watch the sun go down.

Of course we are not the only ones in the hostel, we meet lots of people, especially young ones, get talking again, nibble on strange things, drink wondrous cocktails (somehow they have chia seeds or something gooey in them), sing, dance, dreamily watch the campfire on the beach and listen to Persian music.

After a few days, we feel regenerated and ready to continue our journey. But one thing is clear: we're staying on the coast for a while longer. But when we look at our visa, we realise that we are getting stressed, inside of course. So we look for a way to extend the visa. And why not? Who can do everything in 90 days?

We may not be the biggest travellers, but we're still quite the tranny bags, so we're happy to be able to extend our stay.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
