Great Journey 🏍 Day 393
🇹🇷 Gerd
We spent 9 weeks in Turkey in the summer. And we were asked time and again why we were going there in summer of all times. It was much too warm there! Yes, they were all right. We noticed that too. That's what happens when you travel without a plan.

Now it's October and it's getting chilly at altitude. Of course I have enough clothes with me, I shouldn't really be cold.

However, I am always accompanied by the same thoughts: "Oh, it will soon be warmer again". "It won't be long now." "At the next break, I'll put on my down jacket."

In the evening - arrived at the hotel - I first have to thaw out. Permanently around 9 to 15 degrees has not been a good idea in my summer clothing mode. Tomorrow, yes, tomorrow I will not freeze.

Meanwhile, the route was quite monotonous at first, lots of long straight roads. I provide some variety by leaving the main road and strolling through the mountain villages. At lunch time I meet two men, both of whom speak German, and am once again invited for Çay. One of them recognises my Bernese number plate (no, I'm not from Belgium, for once someone knows that BE stands for Bern!) and tells me, beaming with joy, that he lived in Aarberg for 6 years. We were neighbours, so to speak!

I find a hotel in Kemaliye. Strolling through the town (village?) I discover similarities to Swiss mountain villages. Everything is there: small alleys, wooden houses, a river meandering between rocks and cats, yes, there were cats too.
