The weather is one of those things. Normally it goes like this: We compare the weather forecasts on several weather apps and decide on the best forecast. Meteoblue and Yr (which we brought with us from Norway) are way out in front. Yr also scores points for its beautiful design. Beautiful weather and beautiful design, what more could you want?
However, I hike with my girlfriend, who completely ignores my kind of weather forecast and what can I say: as researched by her, we have bad weather (thanks Meteo-Switzerland!) and hike through the Maderanertal in fog and sun hidden behind clouds.
Small advantage: the good-weather hikers all seem to use the same app and leave us alone up here. We walk in the wildly romantic (tourism German!) mountain world, round a small natural lake (I originally wanted to swim here, but this damn weather app ruined everything for me!), admire the high-alpine hikers as they make their way to the SAC huts and finally end up at the Golzernsee inn. Here we ask the innkeeper about the current weather (they must know!) for today. He replies: "Come back this evening and I'll know for sure!
So instead of hoping for better weather, we fill our bellies with cheese slices, because the innkeeper has them immediately, not just tonight, and we are quite happy as it is. Full and satisfied, we cover the last few metres of the hike in the rain, but what the heck, we like the Maderanertal so much that we'll certainly come back here again. In the sun! With the right app.
