Great Journey 🥾 Day 388
🇨🇭Heike
Unfortunately, my private chauffeur is now travelling solo in Georgia (or Turkey by now) and I have to do it myself: drive pass roads. At least we sit comfortably, 4 wheels protect me from tipping over and the automatic gearshift is much gentler on the engine than I could ever be. After almost 40 minutes of tight bends, we reach the Göscheneralp.

It's Saturday. And it's crowded, we're not the only ones with the great idea. I realise how nice it is to be much lonelier on the road far away. One thing we realise: the Swiss are already Wanderfüdli, in hardly any other country do we experience the locals wandering around their own country as intensively as in Switzerland.

In Greece? What can't be done by car or scooter, won't be done. In Turkey? Big cars, but hiking? Not a chance. In Georgia? Yes, if you can ride your horse over the ridges, then yes. But just wandering around? Never seen that.

At about 1700 m above sea level, we set off for a walk around the Göschenalpsee. At first we feel like lemmings, all the hikers following one another. At some point, the queue becomes shorter, many are tempted by the mountain restaurant to return (me too, a bit), some are much faster hikers than we are and we, in the middle, slowly and comfortably walk around the beautifully draped Alpsee.

And because they really know how to do it up there with the Alpine Panomara decoration, there is not only a reservoir in the most beautiful glacier water green-blue to be seen. No, to the right and left the "makers" have added the Damma and Chelen glaciers as a backdrop. It's supposed to look pretty when you're already scrambling over hill and dale. The 3-hour hike turns out to be a day's walk (Heike time) and a beautiful one at that.

Tip to Switzerland Tourism: In future, instead of the kilometres to be hiked or the time, it would be better to write the expected amount of photos on the information boards, so that you can upgrade the camera's memory beforehand if necessary.

For me, the Göscheneralptal is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Alps. It is geologically very interesting with its wealth of minerals, is home to a rich flora and offers a magnificent mountain backdrop with various glaciers and lots of water. I did the circular hike around the Göschenralpsee two years ago.
