Great Journey 🇳🇴 Day 542
Time for a break. Time for fjords and fjälle.
Instead of being real winter experts, we trudge off without snowshoes. At a small lake we meet our rescuer from yesterday again and talk shop about snowmobiles, reindeer, snowshoeing and German tourists.
(We still suspect that the people up here are feeding a secret database with the misadventures of all tourists. Since yesterday, we've been contributing to it too).
We continue high into the mountains. Deep snow trudging is the order of the day. The sun is shining, the snow is glistening, the wind is only moderately whistling and we can't help but be thrilled.
And we are now professionals in snow trudging. If you trudge too fast, your upper body is faster than your legs and tips over in front. Then you have the choice of getting angry or rolling sideways to then more or less walrus-elegantly escape the powder again. The result is that you just keep rolling downhill and are eventually slowed down by brushwood or trees. Such trees are then used to help you climb up them.
Actually, it's a wonderful way to get around. Unfortunately, it only goes downhill.
And the inclined track reader behind us will wonder what wondrous creature we are talking about with the 1.80 wide rolling tracks.
Did we mention that snowshoes will definitely be coming along on the next winter trip? Then we'll finally be real tourists. And no longer get caught in the secret "faux pas database".
By the way: this kind of deep snow trudging is very strenuous. Worth at least 2 cinnamon buns per person.
