Great Journey 🏍 Day 272
Either nature or old towns. We notice that these are our favourites in Bulgaria (or even everywhere?). Nesebar is another old town candidate.

Actually, we were already in Nesebar. Only this all-inclusive kept us tied to the hotel. This time, on the return journey of our Black Sea Coast Road Trip, we all agree: we will spend the day in the little town.

When we check in at the hotel, the manageress asks us if we have already seen the nearby Sunny Beach. We answer in the affirmative and she recognises from our facial expressions that we are stunned. She herself smiles mildly and says that the good thing about Sunny Beach is that it is not right here. And the Sunny Beach guests just stay on Sunny Beach, the Nesebar guests just stay in Nesebar. All said and done, right?

From our balcony we look directly onto a Roman bath, unfortunately we are 1800 years too late, the water has been drained, the roof no longer exists and the marble tiles have since been removed for other projects.

Nesebar has the Unesco World Heritage status, and rightly so, and radiates a charm that we immediately like. Here, too, old excavation sites nestle into the cityscape, the cafés captivate with their location on rocky cliffs with a fantastic sea view, and the restaurant owners try in a friendly, loud and convincing way to win us over as guests. We, all tourists, decide to take the sunset terrace option and end the day with a walk along the harbour.
