Great Journey 🏍 Day 275
"Can we clean the GS too?"
Malou was on holiday. While we drove up and down the coast in a small Kia Rio, Malou got an all-inclusive wellness at BMW Varna. The 30,000 service was due, the rear tyre had to be replaced and then the suspension strut had to be checked.

There was a message on the display that unsettled us. We also had this message on Gerd's motorbike, which by the way now has a new owner in Switzerland and is allowed to ride through the Swiss mountains (we get pictures of Kzütz in action from time to time!).

The guys at BMW Varna are simply top! We received regular updates via WhatsApp, photos of things they had discovered and wanted to repair. We hadn't even noticed that we had lost a spoke, for example. Then there was rust inside somewhere, no idea where, but the mechanics probably already knew about it and checked and repaired that too.

When we pick up Malou, we see that they had even fixed the side case (it had been dented a bit in a crash, it happens...). Now the box is also watertight again.

Malou is spotlessly clean when they pick her up. Yes, they were allowed to wash her. We learn that for many a GS rider it is a sin to ride spick and span. A GS is supposed to be bursting with dirt. Sometimes we think that we are not "real" GS riders at all. Actually, we don't care whether we ride clean or dirty, the main thing is that we don't have to clean all the time. That's what the rain is for, or what else? (I've never understood how you can spend days cleaning your motorbike or car anyway).

We are now standing there with all our stuff. One last time I ask if they can help me. Simeon looks at me, looks at the piles of stuff spread all over the workshop, smiles, just walks away and over his shoulder he laughs at me: "Good luck!
