Great Journey 🏍 Day 247
If we had known...
In the area around Trigrad (the Trigrad Gorge alone is worth a trip!) there are two caves. A devil's maw cave, a strawberry cave (freely translated by me).

According to legend, couples who visit the Devil's Maw Cave separate in the near future. Moreover, Orpheus is said to have emerged from the underworld there after his tragically failed attempt to reclaim his wife Eurydice. We learn all this at the evening drink with our new friends.

Oh dear. What now? We were already in the cave today...

"No problem," says Ilko, "you just have to go quickly to the strawberry cave, where marriage proposals are made, marriages are held and, in general, that's where marital bliss lies! Tomorrow, first thing tomorrow, we'll go there. We're not going to miss this chance for endless marital bliss, since we so carelessly visited the devil's cave today.

By the way, Bulgaria is full of caves. The aforementioned Devil's Maw Cave is one of the most impressive and, if I remember correctly, also one of the highest caves on the Balkan Peninsula. Entrance to such caves is quite cheap, you walk along a kind of circular path, they did a great job with the lighting and I would have liked to see an escalator at the end of the cave: 288 very steep, high steps and you are already outside at the waterfall, which thunders at full speed 42 metres deep into the cave!
