Greece - Mycenae

26 April 2021

Great Journey 🏍 Day 236
Mycenae. Leaving the Peloponnese, we pass Mycenae somewhat unexpectedly. While my whole focus is on the Corinth Canal and Gerd once again doesn't follow my navi ideas, we suddenly find ourselves in front of the sign "Mycenae, 3 km on the right".

That's where we have to go.

But: we are cold, hungry and thirsty, have to go to the toilet and don't really feel like paying 24 euros for admission. And we want to go on. So we just make a small stop on the outside. A small photo over the fence (drone prohibited, staff everywhere) will have to suffice for today.

We feel a little bad rushing past such historic archaeological sites. But only a little.

On the way, I tell Gerd a bit about Mycenae, after all, I read Heinrich Schliemann's biography years ago and thus learned a lot about Mycenae in passing. That will have to be enough for today.

If we ever get to Troy, we'll take more time. And I'll dig out my accumulated Schliemann knowledge.
