Germany - This Baltic Sea Love

The shoes are quickly flung far away. The soles of the feet feel the fine Baltic sand, the waves carry the Baltic Sea to the feet and already the hem of the dress is wet. No matter. I am standing here at "my" Baltic Sea.

And suddenly she is there, my Petra. My dear Baltic Sea friend is very close to me. And at the same time I miss her so much. Never again will we go for a walk on the beach together. In my mind, of course, she's already in the water, the water rat, while I first feel the temperature with my big toe. Menno, you wonderful woman, you could have stayed a little longer. Not for you. No, for me! Grief is something for those who stay, not for those who leave.

I'm having an inner conversation with you. And you? As always, you know what to do: "Have a good time with your little girl! Live! Love!" And with a wink you follow it up with: "Jump in, it's not that cold!

All right, our grandson dog leads the way, we follow suit: We look forward to the Baltic Sea, the beach and the summer on the Darß. The sun colours our faces and the water is not as cold as I little sissy always thought. We enjoy our time together so much.

Later in the evening we move into our small, sweet holiday flat and make plans for the week: sleep in. Going out for cake once a day. And otherwise a lot of doing nothing. You have to make time for that. It's a deal.

And I can say: we made it. Gooseberry meringue. Currant meringue. Poppy seed marzipan. Cheesecake. Swedish apple. Nameless cake. And finally, strawberry cake at Karls. Eggnog coffee and kaput chinos en masse. We can do Baltic Sea holidays.

Thank you, you wonderful child, for your time, your thoughts, your conversations with me. Thank you for your trust, your ideas and this enchanting granddog.
