Great Journey Day 629/2

I admit it, I should never be left alone in the morning with an empty map. Already the wish list is filling up, just for this Sunday.

We drive through Essex and Suffolk (just writing these regions down makes me tingle, still can't believe we are now driving through England) and arrive at Melford Hall at some point.

We don't know who the children's book author Beatrix Potter and the Parkers family are, but both are said to have lived here or still live here, in the south wing.

The north wing with its wood-panelled and truly impressive large hall up to the bedrooms with four-poster beds and quite a few beautifully embroidered pillows is open for us visitors. Again, a great many volunteers, mainly elderly people, are there for us. They explain, joke, show and answer all our questions.

We take a close look at how the English spend their Sunday afternoon and do the same: tea is drunk at tables in the garden and we eat our first scone with butter, jam and clotted cream. We are confused by the calorie list on the counter, but it doesn't stop us from ordering the full range for once.

We now feel we have arrived, feel almost royal and find the idea of spending spring (and summer?) in the British Isles quite "lovely".

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter
