Italy - RASATURA VECCHIO STILE in Rome for my "boyfriend".

28 October 2020

Great Journey 🏍🏍 Day 56

The first two days of Italian lessons take a lot out of us. We learn "slogans" and the corresponding articles. We learn verbs and, to my dismay, their conjugation. We learn that "g" is actually "dschi" but can also be "k". And that in Italian they do without a few letters altogether (like the K or the W) and still have to use it. At the latest when spelling "BMW", it gets funny: "Bi-Ämme-doppio-Wuh!"

All that takes energy. And literally cries out for a rest. Doesn't it? I give my beloved a "RASATURA VECCHIO STILE" from our joint travel fund. That means a 45-minute shave in the ancient style. Everything in the salon seems old. Beautiful old. That old-fashioned thing you like. Old armchairs, polite gentlemen, facial cleansing with rose water, brushes & homemade shaving soap, the face full of foam, damp cloths and always a little cheek massage. The barber promises that my "boyfriend" will look 20 years younger later. The knife is sharpened, the gentleman is shaved. Finally, a little water to taste: "Brandy, cognac or rum?" On the face, not in the glass!

I watch, take photos, enjoy with him. And take my now 30-year-old "boyfriend" home with me.

By the way, you can visit the salon on Instagram @genco_roma and on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/gencosaladabarba/.

Thank you for the magical end to the day and the new "boyfriend"!
