We write to Urs, whom we met at the Christmas campfire in the desert, that we want to visit him. It would be on the way, so to speak.
So we gondola once more over the Atlas Mountains. We take the smallest roads, criss-cross and hope that we will at least find tar. Gravel is not really our thing.
Instead of speeding along the long-distance roads, we find really small mountain passages. Simply dreamlike. The mountain formations are spectacular, we feel like we are in a mixture of the Wild West and a film set.
On the way we stop, eat the fruitiest of all oranges, give two of them away to two shepherds and drink a coffee in peace and quiet high up on one of the passes with a far-reaching view.
And we realise once again how nice it is to always have our kitchen, our living room, our front garden with us.
Our "do we still have time for a shortcut" route drags on at about 7 hours, only late after sunset do we reach Sbeitla (for the second time) and thus Urs (also for the second time).
PS.: The quote "Do we still have time for a shortcut" we have heard from Barbara and Robert stolen. Simply because it fits sooo often so well!
PPS: Unfortunately it was so windy up here each time that we didn't send our drone up. In addition, we are still quite close to the Algerian border, with increased "Garde Nationale".
Merci for "travelling with us
We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Oh yes, the time thing is really a thing: we find life in Germany or Switzerland rather "squeezed" and hope that when we go on a longer stay at home in the spring, we will somehow be able to escape this. Let's see!
And yes, the play on words has often delighted us, the thanks go to Barbara and Robert, who for their part have also only taken it "from whom else".
