Shortly before leaving Gaziantep, we discover a bazaar that is open and tempts us with jewellery, silk scarves, spices and all kinds of delicacies.
"We can send everything home to you if you can't transport it!" Nobody here understands that we don't have a home at the moment (self-determined, mind you!). "Then just to your mum or daughter!"
We give up, flee (our "no-say qualities" are truly pathetic) and satisfy our stomachs (and afterwards probably many of our fat cells) with the most delicious baklava and pistachio katmer in a street café. And realise that we can definitely exist on this katmer. Not as sweet as baklava, which here is made without sugar syrup but with a kind of liquid butter, but rather more normal-sweet.
And these pistachios - simply divine. Here we also learn that the Turks say antep nuts instead of pistachios. So nuts from Gaziantep.
